The guests discussed proposals to give Congressional members and staffers more time with their families, creating a “family friendly” Congress. Sen. Smith chaired the Republican Party Quality of Life Task Force for the 104th Congress. He and Mrs. Kempthorne are working to persuade the new Congress to be more family oriented by reducing the number of evening and weekend sessions and have a more predictable schedule. Callers asked about a 6 month schedule instead of a full year schedule, less campaigning to gain more family time and term limits. close
