Panelists talked about the history of the CIA during the Truman administration from 1945-1953. They focused on how the international context of the beginning of the Cold War and how the Soviet threat was viewed as more psychological and cultural rather than military and how this influenced the structure and position of the CIA. Mr. Colby described the CIA’s role in Europe during the rise of the Cold War. After their prepared remarks, they took questions from the audience. close
