Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers, and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes, and electronic mail. The tentative schedule of the day’s legislative events was given. Mr. Naylor discussed the agenda for the first day of the 104th Congress. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Weyrich and Rep. Frank reviewed the top stories. Sen. Dole, Sen. Daschle, Rep. Gephardt discussed the goals of their respective parties for the first days of the 104th Congress. Representative Vern Ehlers (R-MI) was interviewed to discuss plans of the new Republican leadership of the 104th Congress providing a public database through the internet. close
