Telephone lines were opened for viewer comments on the State of the Union address. Telefaxed and electronic mail messages were also read. Callers commented that the President sounded too conservative, others that he seemed more positive. Some said it was a clever speech., others agreed with the policies mentioned. Some agreed with the Republican response speech given by Governor Christy Todd Whitman of New Jersey. close
