Governors Howard Dean (D-VT) and Tommy Thompson (R-WI) briefed reporters about their meeting with President Bill Clinton. The two joined other governors at the White House to talk with President Clinton about a variety of topics, including welfare reform, the balanced budget amendment and unfunded mandates. The two governors served as chair and vice-chair of the National Governor’s Association in Washington, D.C. for their annual winter meetings. close
