Mayor Marion Barry (D) and others briefed reporters on the findings of the fiscal ‘94 audit of Washington, DC finances. At his office desk today, Mayor Barry released financial reports that indicated the District of Columbia is $700 million above its budget. This comes amid recent efforts by the district government to cut and streamline the city budget. Capitol Hill had pressured Mayor Barry to balance the cities’ budget or else turn over its books to the federal government. close
