The House Oversight Committee met to discuss contested House elections, which included the Connecticut second congressional district race where the Democratic incumbent, Representative Sam Gejdenson, initially won by two votes. Following a review of disputed ballots by a state supreme court panel, Rep. Gejdenson’s margin of victory expanded from two votes to twenty-two votes. The committee also appointed task forces to investigate challenges to two other elections, one in the seventh district of North Carolina and one in the thirty-sixth district of California. Other topics included the status of the House audit. close
