President William Jefferson Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton exited the White House to greet German Chancellor Helmut Kohl in a State Arrival Ceremony. After the traditional review of the troops and playing of the national anthems, the two leaders approached a lectern on the South Lawn to address the crowd. The president said he and Chancellor Kohl will renew and reaffirm their vital partnership, work to support continued reform in Russia and the newly-independent states, and consider how to expand NATO to Europe’s new democracies. close
