In his address, President Clinton stated that the PTA embodies the three ideas he has talked about for the future--opportunity, responsibility, and community. The president spoke on the challenges the country faces including economic and social problems thought to threaten the middle class economics of the American dream and mainstream values of work, family, and community. He maintained that the mission for the future must be to keep the American dream alive for all citizens and to ensure the position of the United States as the strongest force for peace, freedom, and democracy in the world.
