Current events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the opening segment, Mr. King talked about the race for the Republican nomination and other issues. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Miller and Mr. King discussed a variety of topics including deficit reduction, the possibility of a third party candidate in 1996, and the first 100 days of the 104th Congress. In a telephone interview, Mr. Lippman talked about Robert McNamara’s book about his views on the Vietnam war. In the last segment, Ms. Goodwin talked about the life and death of President Franklin Roosevelt on April 12, 1945. close
