In an excerpt from the White House Correspondents' Dinner, President Clinton praised the press for its insightful and objective

coverage of the recent Oklahoma City bombing. He expressed understanding

for the level of horror this situation brings to the nation, and

asked the press to continue to tell the story of the events in

Oklahoma City to the American people. The public must be informed

about the status of the investigation, the president said, and the

victims and heroes of the incident should be remembered. The

president announced his desire to strengthen measures against

terrorism within our borders. close
