Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. Mr. Dupree discussed the congressional legislative agenda. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Evans and Mr. Trillin discussed headlines from papers across the country. In the point-counterpoint discussion, Mr. Lynn and Mr. McFarland discussed whether the U.S. needs a constitutional amendment to guarantee freedom of religious expression, including prayer in public schools.
