Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. The C-SPAN School Bus visited the National Gallery of Art for interviews with the director. Exhibits and other interior shots were shown throughout. In the first segment, Mr. Powell gave an overview of the Gallery. Mr. Merrill talked about the painting conservation workshop of the museum. Rep. McIntosh, a member of the House Appropriations Committee, and Rep. Skaggs, a member of the Arts Caucus on Capitol Hill, discussed newspaper headline stories. Mayor Golding talked about San Diego’s sewage treatment controversy with the Environmental Protection Agency. The city would benefit from Corrections Day legislation before the U.S. House of Representatives today. Mr. Robison described his work as the Andrew Mellon senior curator.
