Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Dave McConnell talked about the congressional agenda before the recess, including Bosnia and the appropriations process.

In the newspaper roundtable, Representatives Bill McCollum, R-FL, and Bobby Scott, D-VA, talked about the Waco hearings and current news topics.

In the point-counterpoint, Representatives Helen Chenoweth, R-ID, and Lous Stokes, D-OH, debated the proper role for the E.P.A.

In the next segment, Adam Zagorin talked about changes within the A.F.L.-C.I.O., including the resignation of Lane Kirkland as president. In the last segment, Tom Mack talked about Tourmobile service, which carried tourists to 22 sights around the area. close
