Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspaper; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Lipman talked about the upcoming congressional battle over Medicare. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Gizzi and Mr. Mishel talked about current news stories, including disaffection with the two party system.
