At the dedication of the new California State University at Monterrey Bay, President Clinton talked about the challenges facing the U.S. as it enters the next century. He emphasized that the nation should handle these challenges just as the nation that won World War Two and the Cold War did--by finding common ground and working together. He also emphasized his administration efforts to make the nation ready for the next century by downsizing government but maintaing investments in education to prepare people for the future. The university had previously been Fort Ord. close
