Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Ms. Dentzer discussed current stories such as Medicare. Professor Henretta talked about the signing of the Constitution which occurred in Philadelphia exactly 208 years ago. In the newspaper roundtable, Ms. Cheney and Secretary Glickman talked about current news stories including agricultural policy and Colin Powell. Mr. Clymer talked about his article about Speaker Gingrich’s decision to end his daily news conference. Mr. Klein talked about his article about growing anger among the U.S. electorate by telephone. In the final segment, Senator Domenici talked about the Senate debate over welfare reform, balancing the budget and other issues. close
