Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Overby and Mr. Prichard talked about the opening of the Newseum, a new museum dedicated to the history of newspapers. In the next segment, Mr. Finney and Mr. Braestrup talked about current headlines, including the unabomber manifesto and the Israel-P.L.O. peace agreement. In the next segment, Mr. Merrill talked about the Washingtonian Magazine, which is celebrating its thirtieth anniversary this week.
