Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspaper; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone call, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. West talked about the conflict over the budget and the possibility of a continuing resolution. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Grossman and Ms. Higgins talked about current events, including the alienation among the public. Treasurer Withrow talked about the changes in U.S. currency to combat counterfeiting. In the next segment from the Cannon building rotunda, Mr. Kennerly talked about the exhibit of his photographs over the past thirty years and his career as a photojournalist. In the final segment, Mr. Hess talked about the third party movement in the United States and Ross Perot’s attempt to form a third party for the 1996 election. Mr. Verney talked about United We Stand’s efforts to form a third party. close
