Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with legislators, newsmakers and journalists; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the point-counterpoint segment, Ms. Rollin and Mr. Lefevre debated whether juveniles who commit serious crimes should be tried as adults. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Bonham, who is communications director for Rep. Matsui, and Mr. Wilkinson, who is press secretary for Rep. Armey, talked about current headlines, including the House’s rejection of the conference report on defense appropriations and the Senate Finance Committee’s passage of a Medicare reform and budget reconciliation bill. Mr. Stocking talked about the decision to start using tickets to control the crowds at the Washington monument. close
