Press Secretary McCurry announced that Vice President Gore will travel to Haiti to celebrate the first anniversary of the restoration of democracy. While there, the vice president intends to meet with President Aristide and members of his Cabinet and to address the U.S, soldiers who are currently deployed in Haiti. He also expects to deliver remarks to Haitian audience in Port-au-Prince. McCurry said the president signed the Military Construction Appropriatons Act, H.R. 1817, into law. This law provides funding for military construction and family housing programs at the Department of Defense. The press secretary stated that the president will veto the Legislative Branch Appropriations Bill.
