Secretary Glickman and the Agriculture Department began a series of hearings on the Agriculture Bill. House and Senate Committees have already developed recommendations for adjusting agricultural spending by $13 billion in the next seven years. Rep. Roberts is chairman of the House Agriculture Committee. Senator Harkin is a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee. Panels of agricultural economists and farm lobbyists also testified. close
