Participants and guests gathered to honor Raoul Wallenberg, a Swedish diplomat who saved an estimated 100,000 Hungarian Jews by threatening the Germans with postwar retribution. He disappeared after Soviet forces occupied Hungary. Representative Lantos was one of these refugees. Wallenberg was honored with a bronze bust which will permanently reside in the Capitol rotunda. close
