Current news events and polls and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislatorsl; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Bailey and Mr. Balkin talked about the results of state elections in several states, including gubernatorial races in Kentucky and Mississippi. In the next segment, Representative Cardin and Senator Inhofe discussed current events, including the state elections, the budget debate and U.S. Bosnia policy. In the next segment, Mr. Viles, author of National Statuary Hall: Guidebook for a Walking Tour talked about the statues in this portion of the Capitol. In the next segment, Mr. Ruddy talked about current issues in the Whitewater investigation, including whether the White House or Treasury Department obstructed the RTC investigation into the Madison Guaranty Savings and Loan.
