Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the newspaper roundtable, Senator Coats and Rep. Nadler talked about current events, including the budget and personal stories about members of Congress. In the next segment, Mr. Bentley talked about his new book, Newt: Inside the Revolution, which is a collection of intimate photographs of Speaker Gingrich. In the next segment, Rep. Shays and Mr. Andrews discussed the congressional gift reform legislation which the House debates later in the day. Mr. Gelbspan and Professor talked about the debate over global warming. close
