Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the newspaper roundtable, Senator Dan Coats (R-Indiana) and Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-New York) talked about current events, including the budget and personal stories about members of Congress. In the next segment, P.F. Bentley talked about his new book, Newt: Inside the Revolution, which is a collection of intimate photographs of House Speaker Rep. Newt Gingrich (R-Georgia). In the next segment, Rep. Chris Shays (R-Connecticut) and Wright Andrews of The American League of Lobbyists discussed the congressional gift reform legislation which the House debates later in the day. Ross Gelbspan and Robert Balling talked about the debate over global warming. close
