Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Warren talked about current headlines, including the continuing budget debate and government shutdown. In the newspaper roundtable, Ms. O’Beirne and Ms. Ratner discussed current issues. In the next segment, Representatives Buyer and Hamilton talked about the use of U.S. troops in Bosnia. Rep. Buyer is sponsoring a bill that would prohibit funding for the troops to be used there unless specifically allocated by Congress. close
