President Bill Clinton briefs reporters on the latest developments in the budget negotiations. He criticized the announcement by the House Republican conference that it will not agree to another continuing resolution to avoid a partial government shutdown. The president takes several questions from the press, mainly concerning an meeting which the Republicans claimed ended in a new agreement to use CBO economic projections. Vice President Al Gore disagrees with their interpretation of the outcome of the meeting in a subsequent news conference. close
