Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning papers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Jordan introduced, via telephone, the on- line service of the state of Utah, and Mr. Denley talked about the Birmingham Post-Herald's on-line services. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Whitham and Mr. Williams talked about current issues, including the role of religion in politics, and the budget dilemma. Mr. Williams is writing a biography of Thurgood Marshal. Mr. Witham reports on religion and society. Part 2 of a three-part series of interviews with Mr. Starr and Mr. Ben-Veniste on their roles in the Whitewater investigation was shown. Ms. Sorkin showed the Library of Congress' Web Site. close
