Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Ms. Bayer talked about current events including Whitewater and the budget. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Gillespie and Mr. Sweitzer also discussed the budget, Whitewater, and the upcoming elections. Mr. Kohut talked about recent Gallup polls. Mr. Hundt and Mr. Bronfin talked about new technology such as interactive television. In the next segment, Mr. Goldfarb talked about his book Perfect Villains, Imperfect Heroes.
