Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Neikirk talked about whether Congress and the president will continue to work on a budget agreement and other current headlines. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Nelson and Mr. Podhoretz talked about current issues, including the budget debate. Mr. Harwood talked about the Virginia Military Institute (V.M.I.) case being argued before the U.S. Supreme Court today. Clips were shown of interviews with Ms. Greenberger and V.M.I. attorney Olson. Ms. Gabor talked about her book, Einstein’s Wife, which examines the lives of five twentieth century women who helped their famous husbands more than most people know. Mr. Franken talked about his new book, Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot. close
