The late Senator Richard Russell of Georgia was honored by the unveiling of a statue of him in the rotunda of the Russell Senate Office Building, also named for him. Vice President Gore and others spoke about serving in the Senate with Senator Russell, who was a member from 1933-1971. The sculptor of the statue, Frederick Hart, was introduced. Senator Russell’s two surviving sisters unveiled the statue. close
