After President Bill Clinton departed, White House budget negotiators reiterated many themes which he mentioned. They again emphasized that both sides have agreed to enough savings to balance the budget within seven years. They also briefed reporters on the president’s latest proposal, which is different from the Daschle plan he proposed a few weeks ago. Mr. McCurry then announced that President Clinton would attend Barbara Jordan’s funeral on Saturday in Houston and took a few more questions. close
