Secretary Shalala and President Clinton spoke about an upcoming national campaign involving government agencies, businesses, and non-profit groups against teen pregnancy. In his remarks, President Clinton called teen pregnancy “a moral problem and a personal problem.” He also stated that “it is a very significant economic and social problem.” He emphasized that solving will take intelligent government and private cooperation as he outlined in his State of the Union Address. He also announced that Dr. Henry Foster, the former Surgeon General nominee, will be his primary adviser on this issue and liaison to the national campaign against teen pregnancy. close
