Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Ms. Foerstel talked about congressional activities over the past week, including temporary financial measures and the line-item veto. In the next segment, Mr. Shesol discussed his comic strip, “Thatch,” which is about people in their twenties lives in Washington, D.C. Mr. Riccards, who works for Rep. Olver, and Mr. Buse, who works for Senator McCain talked about current headlines. close
