Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Ms. Thomas talked about the morning headlines. In the newspaper roundtable, Mr. Glass and Mr. Novak talked about current issues, including the future of the Bosnian peace treaty and the Gridiron Club dinner. Ms. Geisinger talked by telephone about her first vote and her political views. In the next segment, Mr. Miga and Mr. Flannery talked about the Illinois and Massachusetts Senate races.
