Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Kane talked about gas price increases and other newspaper stories. In the next segment, by remote connection Ms. Watzman discussed campaign contributions from congressional lobbyists. A clip was shown of former President Ford conducting a tour of the Gerald Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids. In the next segment, Mr. Makovsky discussed the meetings of Middle East leaders in Washington. Mr. Murphy talked about the rising price of gasoline in the last segment. Rep. Greenwood, floor manager for legislation about the FDA, and Rep. Bilirakis were interviewed by telephone before this morning’s House Commerce Committee hearing on the FDA approval process. close
