Current news events and political issues were examined through

reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists,

newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and

electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Goodgame talked about

Senator Dole’s resignation and other morning headline stories. In

the next segment, Mr. Curran and Mr. Winneker talked by remote

connection about the 1996 congressional elections. In the newspaper

roundtable, Ms. Charen and Ms. Conniff discussed the morning headline

stories. Mr. Horowitz talked by telephone about his political

opinions and his first vote this year. In the next segment, Mr.

Scully talked by telephone about the San Diego presidential debate

site. In the last segment, Mr. Marannis and Mr. Weisskopf talked

about their new book, Tell Newt to Shut Up.

Mr. Parish talked about his winning entry and his plans for the future. close
