Senator Larry Pressler, R-South Dakota, chair of the Senate Commerce Committee, talked about the oversight of ValuJet Airline by the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA announced on July 17 that ValuJet would shut down indefinitely because of deficiencies in its maintenance programs. He was particularly concerned about documents about ValuJet which were not reported to the committee at its hearing shortly after a fatal ValuJet crash. Following a prepared statement, he took questions from the press. close
