The panel talked about their support of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) of 1996. DOMA codified heterosexual-only marriage in federal law and banned the transfer of gay marriage between states. The panel talked about the religious, social, and “scientific” bases of banning gay marriage. They focused on the threat posed by homosexuals on all that is good in society. Without irony, they advocated for the passage of DOMA and for a smaller government. close
