The Senate Finance Subcommittee heard testimony on the Social Security trustees' annual report which said that in 75 years, the Social Security System will be bankrupt. Social Security Administrator Shirley Chater encouraged Congress to legislate changes in the system to prevent this eventuality. She also said that the public must be more fully informed about the Social Security System. Social Security trustees also testified. close
