In a foreign policy address, President Bill Clinton referred to the courage of Olympic athletes and deplored the bomb in Atlanta, the unresolved crash of a TWA airplane, and the deaths of American servicemen in Saudi Arabia. He said, “...If we want the benefits of this new world, we must defeat the forces who would destroy by killing the innocent....” The President talked about changes for good such as computer technology and more open international trading. He also cautioned against the dangers of terrorism and drug trafficking and enumerated various international efforts to combat these. Former Senator George McGovern, Rep. Doris Matsui and other dignitaries were present in the audience. close
