Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. In the first segment, Mr. Fiedler talked about the Dick Morris resignation and President Clinton’s acceptance speech the previous evening. In a telephone interview, Mr. Kalb talked about media coverage of the Dick Morris resignation. In the newspaper roundtable, Ms. Goodman and Mr. Greenberg further discussed these two topics. In a taped interview, Mr. and Mrs. McCrearie talked about what they learned at the convention and a student game about politics. In the next segment, Mr. Ficano, a Detroit sheriff, and Ms. Armstrong, a teacher, discussed their experiences during the Democratic Convention. In the last segment, Mr. Lockhart previewed the presidential campaign and reviewed the Democratic Convention. close
