Representative Robert Torricelli, D-New Jersey, and Representative Dick Zimmer, R-New Jersey, also a state legislator from 1982 to 1991, debated state and national issues. This debate was moderated by John Farmer, The Star Ledger, Newark, N.J. They were running for the seat left open by the retirement of Bill Bradley who served three terms in the Senate.
