After a meeting among Energy Department and fuel industry executives, participants briefed reporters on concerns over heating oil supplies and prices for the upcoming winter, especially in the eastern part of the U.S., Energy Secretary Hazel O’Leary said that she had urged industry leaders to try to increase supplies as much as possible before the weather gets much colder.
