In their final public meeting, committee members heard testimony from veterans, other concerned citizens, and CIA and Defense Department representatives concerning their experiences with Gulf War illnesses and the latest information on its investigation into Gulf War illnesses. Witnesses testified that there was no widespread exposure to chemical weapons and they are still continuing the investigation into the destruction of an Iraqi chemical weapons site. Members also debated whether stress may be the overriding cause of the amalgamation of ailments known as Gulf War Syndrome. close
