Persons committed to limiting the influence of large corporations on U.S. society and politics and thereby expanding the role of citizens gathered to formally found an advocacy organization called the Alliance. The movement started after a 1995 article by Ronnie Dugger in The Nation. Mr. Dugger talked about the rationale and ideals of the movement as it seeks to grow and Mr. Goodwyn about the threats to U.S. democracy posed by the corporate-dominated culture. close
