Preston Manning, who founded the Reform Party in 1987, spoke about the party and national agenda for the next century. In his remarks, he focused on the need for political reform to re-energize and reunite the Canadian federal system and urged the audience to participate in the reform movement. The party represented mostly western Canadians and promoted a balanced budget, equal treatment for all Canadians and institutional reform.
