Performance Artist Anna Deavere Smith spoke about recent developments in U.S. theater and her latest project, A Search for American Character. She focused on her project to create a type of theater that enhanced the power and symbolism of words themselves. She also assumed the characters of several persons whom she had interviewed during this project. She also took questions from the audience.
