At a conference on banking reform, Alice Rivlin, Federal Reserve Board of Governors Vice Chairman, spoke about the Federal Reserve’s prudential regulation of the banking industry. She focused on how legislation that was passed after the savings and loan crisis had helped make regulation more effective and how federal regulators must use market forces to regulate the industry as much as possible.
