Members of the President’s Advisory Council on Social Security talked about the divisions over the future of Social Security, saying that three different plans to preserve the system were endorsed. Following their prepared remarks, they took questions from the audience. Edward Gramlich, an economics professor at University of Michigan, was chairman of the advisory council. Edith Fierst, a member of the President’s Council on Social Security, and Edward Berkowitz of George Washington University History Department were part of the conversation. close
